Hey Sparky, go back and read my previous posts on this topic (Friday's article). I more than gave praise to the man for the idea/concept/planning/etc. It's a noble effort and I certainly applaud him for it. Further, I fully supported him during the days in a raft ordeal he did awhile back.

My point is simple. He loses all credibility with me and most folks when he breaks the law(s) in his attempt. Just because the YMCA gets some money in the name of charity, that makes breaking multiple laws acceptable????

This is now officially one of the most blatant disregards for law enforcement I have seen in quite some time.

Let's all count the law infractions in one 24 hour period:

1. Operating a personal watercraft too close to the Naples Pier.

2. Operating a personal watercraft above idle speed in a no wake zone.

3. Wildlife harassment and endangerment.

4. Operating a personal watercraft after dusk, before dawn and at night.

5. Having a glass container on the Naples Beach.

I can't believe Naples Daily News would promote such a shameless and selfish act.

I plan on contacting the Guisness Book of World Records to dispute this record attempt. No one should be allowed to break numerous laws in an attempt at a world record, regardless if it's for charity or not.

SHAME ON YOU NAPLES DAILY NEWS.

"fatuous hillbillies from the gene pool."

Like the Marco cop who ran his jet ski into the mangroves due to his passenger's "life jacket malfunction"?

I'm still very irked that NDN would allow a blatant violation of the law in their paper. It's front page news alright, but for the wrong reason!

"Pagliccia launched off the Naples Pier..."

REALLY? He pushed his jet ski off the pier and launched it? He probably launched at a local boat ramp, like most boaters do. Or he could have even launched from the beach. Either way, he did launch off the Naples Pier.

C'mon Jenna. You can do better.

I just watched this guy's video again on the front page and you can clearly see him in front of the no wake buoy. Further, he kicks up several birds in the video as well. Blatant wildlife harassment.

C'mon Mike! 3 law infractions right off the bat!?!?!!!

First off, hats off to Mike. What he does for charity is an amazing feat that all of us should emulate.

That being said, you really don't need to be breaking laws in your attempt. You can't have a boat that close to the pier, further, you can't have a vessel above idle speed that close to shore. 2 laws broken in the first 5 minutes of your world record attempt isn't a great start.

Help everyone gather around you by following the same rules the rest of us have to.

That being said, I wish you well. 600 miles on a jet ski is no small feat.

One last question, doing some math in my head, right now we have about 12 hours or so of daylight everyday. Sunrise is about 6:40am and sunset is about 5:40pm. Considering jet skis can not be out after dark, that means you plan on averaging 50+ miles per hour for this little shindig. Factor in gas stops and your average speed must increase.

Makes the feat even more impressive.
