Actually, keekee, you did quote my letter, but it's not a big deal; I was just responding to your post. Hey, if you can't take it when someone replies to your post, then don't post.

BTV, working hard has no guarantees. A lot of homeless people started out that way because of a series of life-shattering financial disasters. Some degree of mental illness often--but not always-- exacerbates the situation.
The homeless are deserving of our help, not our scorn and certainly not new ordinances which offer no solutions to the problem.

keekee: Sorry, I didn't know you were countng uses of "vitriolic". I'll try to do better next time.
On the other hand, why don't you just try to be happy that some of us try to use other phrases than the snappy comeback "Get a life!" or "Get over it!". I saw that used a few times in the year leading up to the election when some readers actually had the temerity (look it up) to question GWB.

Barry Willoughby, such a bitter, bitter man. Your party lost the election; please try to accept it. You cannot change it and this grasping at straws to try to ridicule the President-elect before he has even stepped foot in the Oval Office is just embarrassing. And, you lose credibilty every time you submit one of your vitriolic diatribes.

Everyone is entitled to spend their own money in whichever way they choose. If they have money to burn and want to spend it decorating their house, so be it. It's a ridiculous argument that they should spend it on charity (and they do give a great deal to charity already).
However, the most ridiculous thing about this entirely frivolous and time-and-money-wasting lawsuit is the fact they they are already in the public eye, so what invasion of privacy is this?
And regarding the charges that the decorating company is using the pictures for "commericial gain": well, of course they are! Look up any party/event planner website and you'll see photos of the jobs they've done. How do you think the Fliggs knew to hire this company? By looking at the work they'd already done!
It's all ridiculous and they should be ashamed of themselves.

It's amazing to me that those here who quote the bible the most are full of the most hate. Yes, that's PP and now blkndn. Don't tell me that you are quoting God's word and the bible; all you are doing is spewing hate. Shame on you.
I very much like what Gandhi said about Christians: "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ".

Right near the beach: If a straight couple cannot--for whatever biological reason--reproduce on their own, does that mean they shouldn't adopt?
By your previous logic, that is what you are saying. And of course I use the term "logic" very loosely.

No, Maddie; gay men adopt girls and gay women adopt boys. Same as a single straight person doesn't necessarily adopt a child of the same gender.
mango, you are a very sick person.

Enrico: Your letter is a little smug. You say that European "retail and overall consumer spending — seen through the number of shoppers doing what they do best — seems to be just as active as ever."
Does that mean you noticed a lot of people were shopping? Is there some sort of scientific basis to your observation? Because here in the USA shoppers on a mad dash to get to a Walmart to spend their money actually trampled a store employee to death. To quote you, it doesn't sound like we are "questioning the status quo, tightening our belts, doing away with the superfluous while looking for better and innovative ways to proceed".
Let's not have any Titanic metaphors, when the truth is we are all in the same boat.
