Lou is an A*$*$-hole of the wort kind. There are many people who are hard working, professional individuals (like demo24 and myself) who are laid off. I too have been laid off since January and only about 2 more weeks of unemployment left. I have a single family home, and am a single professional person wondering how long my savings will last - and whether or not to take the penalties and call in my 401K money!!

So LOU - you need to %$&%$#@ shut your rotten trap ...

I think it was a great way to keep his relatives in contact with each other - a celebration of family which was obviously very important to him.

The story has actually come about, it seems, due to the very young (baby) family members' who attended before they were 13 - and now their parents' are seeking to get a portion of the inheritance which is fair, I suppose. Like other bloggers though, I don't like the idea of much of the money going toward attorney fees - certainly NOT what I believe he wanted to cause.

Also, the article didn't state that the party each year had to be in Naples. If you notice, the first one was held in New York state while he was still alive. It would be fun and interesting to go to a different locale each year to reaquaint and party with your family. Too bad the family has decided to quit the parties.

I would have loved to have been the party planner without a budget - what a blast!

And, kuddos to Aisling - a very interesting and INFORMATIVE story, well researched.

hadenuf - my thoughts exactly. And as I mention in my first post (#1) it seems strange that the little girl just now decided it was okay to tell about what happened. The "touchy" discussion needs to take place a lot sooner than 12 years old. That's why I'm sure we'll find out that this man has been either a boyfriend, uncle or other family member and that the mother is either aware it has been going on and has now found a reason to "get back" at the scumbag in order to get rid of him from her life and/or household.

Again, it will be interesting to see what the "Naples Daily News Staff" comes up with next. I guess they don't post the writers' names because they can't get the whole story. I wouldn't want my name attached to that "info missing" article either.

As for the illegal scumbag, why does he deserve ANYTHING from Collier County or a fair trial from the US government? Take him on a boat ride to the middle of the gulf and make him walk the plank with some cement boots on.

. . . and how does the girl know this man? Was he living with them, the mother's ex-boyfriend, an uncle, what?

If the writer knows enough to know that the little girl told police this had been ongoing since she was six, surely she told the police how she knows this scumbag. On the other hand, and giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, maybe he and the mother used to have a thing going and he cheated on her or they broke up, now mom's trying to play payback by concocting the story and having the daughter play along. Why now, would the daughter, finally decide to tell on him if its been going on for so many years. The "good touch, bad touch" excuse is kind of a lame reason for the kid to finally start talking.

It would be nice if NDN would wait to break this kind of news until they know more about it to make a bit more sense. I mean, its not like they have a lot of competitors just hankerin' to be the first to break a big story!

GatorHater is correct - we all have problems now and I am sick of hearing about the preceived custodial workers' woes while I'm worried about how I'll have enough to take care of my health, my house payment, car payment, water and electric bills, etc. Savings account funds only go so far to help when you've been laid off for over six months and check the newspaper every day for jobs that might be open. Just take a look at the classified ads as opposed to houses for sale and ask yourself how many other people besides custodians are in trouble.

FJF - the reporter is the one who titled the article and called the guy a "broker" ... doesn't matter whether he is a salesperson or broker, his activities are still illegal, duh

Come on - this is friggin' ridiculous! If the FWC people have not been able to erradicate these coyotes in all this time, maybe they need to go back classes and animal trapping or retire and let some new people who need jobs get it done.

L and C: you truly are lost and confused; and I suppose your kids go to private schools, but I'll bet they ride on the "short bus". Aren't you special that you can go retail shopping all day long and worry about your view of the median?

A car salesman once told me, "there's an a** for every seat". Guess what? You're sitting right up front!

City council should review all of these opinions before making a final decision since there seems to be a general concensus: if the residents want to keep their beach private then they should privately pay to keep it that way, not use tax dollars from all the other taxpayers yet be able to keep those taxpayers from accessing their "percieved" private property which is slowly eroding away.

Its kind of an ironic twist and perhaps a lesson in "sharing" could be learned from this whole issue.

Adding insult to injury, if you review the property appraiser site you can easily see that the majority of these homes are NOT homesteaded! And looking closer, even most of the ones that ARE taking the homestead exemption are doing so by way of entities known as "family trusts", leading one to the knowledge they these people are not even staying there but perhaps a few weeks or months out of each year.

Selfish Elitists - they don't want to allow anyone else to enjoy the beach, even when they aren't there to be "bothered" by the rest of us! You folks dug your own hole so use your own dollars to fill it in.
