Elections office says even unofficial results won't be posted til after 7... :(

Mr. Kirby,
I agree with you, Ortino has "background experience"- that is the only experience that he has with his twenty plus years as a private investigator. Magnum PI was cute, too, but we can all agree that he would have been a poor Sheriff.
I can't imagine that with the challenges that Mr. Ortino has faced in his own family he is a better option to lead the youth of this county. (I do recognize his daughter has straightened herself out, my point is that Ortino doesn't have the better handle on youthful interactions and relationships.)
Additionally, just to clarify, any additional time that someone spends on probation does not mean more money for the Sheriff's Office. It either goes to the Court, the State or the County, but not to the SO.
Have a great day and please be educated when you vote on Aug. 26!

Mr. Henry,
I was raised to be respectful to my elders. I am saddened (but not surprised) that you do not have similar manners. Though it is true that females make poor decisions, once in awhile, those of the other gender do as well-imagine that.
I am very glad that most of the men that I served with did not have the same barbaric beliefs that you apparently espouse.

Ok, folks. I am no Ortino fan, but slamming Ortino for his child's extremely poor choices lowers you to the same level as those who so ignorantly slam Rambosk for everything from the color of the suit he chooses to wear to whether or not one of us donates money to his campaign or carries balloons in a parade. We can't win and we look worse for trying the smear tactics.
Rambosk is the better candidate and the best man for Sheriff. The SO is not perfect and none of the candidates can fix that, though Rambosk is far better suited to the task.
Go to a debate and hear for yourself. There is one Tuesday at Naples Hilton- 6pm.

Once again, the bitterness of these posts on a personal level baffles me. If you don't like Rambosk, that's ok, I may think you are foolish, but you are entitled to your own opinion. We are still in America.
If you can't recognize the only person with any experience or the background to make an effective leader for the Sheriff's Office in Collier County then I recommend the you make plans to attend the debate tonight or the one next Tuesday; please don't read the comments on here and make a misinformed opinion based on the prejudices of others.
I wholeheartedly believe that Kevin Rambosk has the education, the experience and the passion to run the Sheriff's Office (not department) in a professional manner and continue to keep Collier County safe as we have been. If his choice to wear a green suit offends you, then maybe you should re-examine your motives for supporting a Sheriff. It is about the best man for the job, not who you are related to, nor who may have promised some political favors.
Again, attend the debates and listen for yourself to what EACH candidate has to say, as well as what they don't.

Maybe the only blogs worth posting on are the ones to clear up misconceptions and misstatements on an issue I care about? Other than that NDN blogs are pretty much watching the regulars shred each other in harsh pettiness. Why would I want to get involved in that? And no, I am neither following orders, nor am I on duty. Have a terrific Saturday.
On Rambosk resigns from Collier Sheriff's Office to avoid violating election law

I was out to dinner last week with some friends one one of them said "Hey, I heard the candidates recently and it is pretty lame when the guy running for Sheriff has to put Tae Kwon Do on his resume. I know who I'm voting for, Kevin Rambosk; he is the only one with any real law enforcement experience."
'Nuff said about that I think.
And the guy saying it wasn't even a deputy....
On Rambosk resigns from Collier Sheriff's Office to avoid violating election law

I have only been able to attend one of the Sheriff debates, but was told that it was typical of the others.
"Vinnie" was insulting to members of the Sheriff's Office, twisting the LE motto to suit his own sordid needs.
Ortino was very nice, soft spoken and who I would vote for, IF you got to chose a runner up. He was not as well-informed as Rambosk on the issues and several times admitted that he was unfamiliar with the "stats, issue, etc", but at least he seems pro- law enforcement overall.
My 9 yr old son summed up the three candidates with honesty and no political agenda. He said "I like Mr. Rambosk, Mommy, he is smart."
To those of you who say Rambosk "skirted issues and avoided answering questions," maybe he should use smaller words and you would understand what he was saying.
Don't judge the candidates based on what you see here, go to a debate and listen for yourself.

Good afternoon Mr. Beckwith. I took a moment between picking up the kids and baking pies to drop you a quick line. I am so happy to see that you are willing to share you antiquated and chauvanistic opinions with the rest of us. I am equally glad to see that you alone have recognized that all women are too stupid (or something) to intelligently follow a football game.
I just wanted you to realize that many of us can manage to efficiently make our way around the kitchen with and without the help of the above-mentioned Betty. Some of us actually enjoy football and would rather be no other place than than the 40 yard line (unless of course it was the old Three Rivers Stadium in the end zone.)
Have a great day- I think I have a cake to pull out.
