Check out LAKE PARK in Ft. Myers.
20 years ago it was pristine. Clear straight to the bottom.
Now its putrid. No swimming allowed. So murky can't see anything. It's disgusting what the supervisors of this lake have let happen.
Tin City/Bayfront...this area was gorgeous...now it is so sad it makes me weep.

Let's make all Barron students go to GGHS and see how well GGHS does next year. Wanna bet they would be an "A" school.
Open house at GGHS offered a FREE spag. dinner,college/vo-tech info.,a tutor table so kids could find out how to get help in a subject, websites for kids to find a career, etc.
I had 2 parents show up the entire night.
Most of my students laughed when I encouraged them to bring their parents or to come themselves. Many had to work.
Alot of leftover spaghetti.

Mr.Stuart - RIGHT ON !!!!!!
I refuse to take classes during the summer as they are unpaid. If the school system wants teachers to take classes then PAY them to attend just like any company out there pays their employees for training.
This is exactly what the school system wants...teachers who work for free and love it !

Jay and Sharon - in addition to most kids being gone during the summer it costs MONEY to bus the kids to + from events, to clean uniform after event, to actually PAY the band director for his time (but I bet you want the director to do it for free!).
You have no idea how much our budgets have been slashed.NO FIELD TRIPS unless the teacher finds the $$$ .In addition this year related arts teachers are expected to have 35+ students in every class (or class will be collapsed) on a budget nearly 1/2 of what it was last year.

Corn- You obviously have not set foot in a classroom.
Your comment is beyond uninformed - its mean spirited and insulting to those who work hard to prepare students for college.

Golden Gate High School kids worked w/FGCU and the Audubon Society to create gorgeous pieces of art depicting the Gopher Tortoise and its habitat (shared by many other species).
These art works along w/ the elem. school art really helped to put the spotlight on the tortoise.
I can arrange for the art to be seen in the photo blog here at NDN if anyone is interested.

On Collier students helped nudge gopher tortoise to state symbol status

Colorado- respectfully disagree on when we leave makes no difference.Later will be better for the people-better trained-more radicals expelled-more stability established.
As for wanting my son or daughter there - no I don't but he's there anyway.Don't like it one bit.Don't OWE them but to pull out now would be stupid.
God bless
