Sheriff Hunter & Mr. Rambosk:
Constitutional Law 101: The EXECUTIVE branch is the law-administering and law-enforcing branch of the government. You guy knew from the beginning what branch of government you work for. With all that experience you guy constantly cite, you had better know.
Many people brought ethical questions forward about how Mr. Rambosk was running his campaign, but as usual, the fix has been in down here for a LONG TIME.
IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE.

Cardshark8,
Although your comments are misplaced, why don't you do the right thing and tell the whole story regarding Rich?
Just for those that don't dig further, here's the rest of Naples Daily News’ article cardshark8 doesn't want you to read:
____________
Rich was not arrested or charged with a crime.
“I will say that if the case is released to the media, and the sheriff does not have some sort of hard, concrete evidence, then there will be some suits filed against the department — his department,” Rich said in the report.
Rich appealed the decision on Jan. 9. In his appeal, Rich argued that Criscella was not an “independent examiner” because he and the first examiner, Walters, used to work together. His appeal was denied on March 23, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
In an e-mail to the Daily News on Wednesday, Rich said he did not want to be interviewed because he feared being misquoted or having his statements taken out of context.
In the e-mail Rich stated the Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t accept his offer to have the agency inspect his computer, waited until after his termination to inspect his agency-issued laptop, and failed to interview any of his co-workers, friends or his wife.
“Also consider that I was, and still am, the webmaster for the Collier Deputies FOP,” Rich wrote in his e-mail. “It was well known that I was involved in attempting to unionize the CCSO, and had just been elected to the Executive Board of the Collier Deputies Lodge of the FOP.”
During the interview Rich told investigators that he had brain surgery as a child and had significant memory problems.
“I have medical evidence that I should not have been polygraphed,” Rich wrote in the e-mail. “I have a statement from a longtime polygrapher that my polygraph results could not be relied on, and also from Cpl. Scott Walter, CCSO polygrapher, that doubts the findings of my polygraphs. These are all in my file.”

Cardshark8, have some integrity, tell the whole story, not just the part that makes those you don’t like look bad. In addition, I’m not a lawyer, but I bet you’re getting close to deformation of character and slander charges regarding your Rich & Varnold comments. Remember, the Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office NEVER PRESSED CHARGES against them. I bet there was nothing there, these people probably just got on the wrong side of the Hunter/Rambosk/Freeman team…

You may feel I'm an idiot, but it sounds to me like you're just an a$$ trying to spread rumors.
I know all those people you're referring to above, and have to say that NONE of what you're saying is true. Localtownie made a good point, all the acts you cite are illegal - where's the arrests?
Seems to me like you're part of the Hunter/Rambosk team - they're so good at spewing crap and lies to the public, you just learned from the best. Let me guess, your work address is 3301 E. Tamiami Trl, right?

Sheriff Hunter, you chastise about publishing opinions unsupported by facts, but next throw out there that the OSC is being investigated by the FBI…. Assuming that’s true, you know well that it would be an open case which the FBI would not comment on, nor would they give any facts about.
Next, if you’re in “complete compliance” with the Hatch Act, why are you asking for an opinion from the OSC? Simply because you’re playing politics. It took FIVE months for the OSC to issue an opinion in the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office case (which they said the Chief Deputy had to either resign his EMPLOYMENT or the race). There’s about 3 months until the primary elections. Do the math, Hunter & Rambosk don’t care what the OSC and the law says, they’re just stalling for time.

Although it's been months since Rambosk was politely asked to keep this race fair and not use his position to further his political career, it is still a SMALL breath of fresh air to see that the Hunter/Rambosk team at least have finally acknowledged that there is a higher legal power than themselves.
That being said, the Hatch Act actual states that Rambosk would have to make a total decision: run for the office of Sheriff OR remain an EMPLOYEE of the Sheriff’s Office. The law doesn’t allow for this part-way move towards compliance with the Act.
Come on Deputy/Employee Rambosk, do the right thing, follow the letter of the law.
Posted on May 2 at 3:58 p.m.
Funny thing.... the Hatch Act states, and I quote: "Prohibited Activities: Covered STATE and LOCAL EMPLOYEES may not be candidates for public office in a partisan election" There is NO "spirit of the Federal Law" section of this Act. Hunter is again INTERPRETING the law. He as Sheriff is supposed to ENFORCE the law. Interpreting is for judges. Rambosk must leave the Sheriff's Office as an EMPLOYEE to comply with the Hatch Act!

Also: anyone questioning why Naples News can quote directly from the OSC's notice of the violation, but refuses to publish the letter it obviously has? I'm sure that if it was against either of the other candidates they'd be happy to publish it.
