You people are delusional. Hunter has been an effective and thorough representative during his terms. Look at the crime rate in Collier County compared to the other counties this size in the state (Palm Beach, Broward, Dade). Do you think that the lack of crime here happened by accident? Give credit where it is due. I am personally saddened to see him go, but will however fully support Kevin Rambosk's team in the even that he chooses to run.

This is Despicable. These are the people that we put in charge of transporting our little ones to and from school. Poor working conditions create unhappy drivers, which results in poor work performance. And then they get behind the wheel and drive our children. These drivers need to be taken are of. End of Story.

Thank You Floridian for taking the words right out of my mouth. The resources that CCSO spends to manage by incident after a citizen neglects to safeguard their belongings is an unnecessary way to spend tax payers dollars. Do you think the officers enjoy having to go out and take needless reports because people leave their purses, etc in plain view???

Floridian, As the wife of a CCSO deputy, I would like to thank you for that beautiful posting, and for noting that Collier County is in fact one of the safest in the state. We are fortunate to be under the leadeship of such a strong Sheriff.

Gem0614girl, I am in fact a family member of an employee of the CCSO, so I have firsthand knowledge of facts. I still stand by my positive critique of Sheriff Hunter and his command staff.

Please get your facts straight before posting based on emotion rather than actual facts. Sheriff Hunter, did in fact, write a letter to the Editor this past weekend addressing his alleged lack of intervention for Marshall. He and his staff do all they can for the Deputies, however, unles someone reaches out for help, it;s not humanly possible to know what everyone's personal issues are. I find him to be a fair and consistent Sheriff. Look at crime stats in our county compares to others with the same mass. It's an eye opening comparison. It is he, and "his elite sidekicks" along with the many dedicated road patrol deputies, etc. that allow us to sleep easy at night, knowing that we are well protected.

It gets even better. Grace Community Day Care on Santa Barbara is closing Monday so that their employees can support their illegal neighbors. That means that the hard working legal American parents of children enrolled there have to take a day off of work (some unpaid) because Grace is allowing their employees to do this. The good news is that we will get a "break" in tuition for this gross inconvenience, not nearly the amount that we are losing in a days pay. Shoukd I support the school by yanking my child out?
