Hats off to you, Mr. Maxwell. My youngest kid will miss the opportunity to work with you.
My other kids sure loved being in the band. Thank you.

freshface, thanks for agreeing with me. Change it starting right now, not looking back FIVE years and taking it. That is a slap in the face for some of the brightest kids. They should not be punished by the district's mistake. (This whole system is full of holes.)

That is not true. If it did not have an effect on anyone then they would not do it. It will positively affect one student, negatively affect the others. There are many students that are trying to qualify for bright futures and other scholarships. If they no longer qualify because the honors weighting they had has been taken away...this is going to be a mess. The board should not retroactively take any credit away. Where is the precedent? This has not been the rule prior to today. These kids are taking high school courses when they are in middle school, does that not count?

They should change the weighting effective today, not five years ago when they gave the credit.

Last year they kept telling us nothing could be done retroactively. Why can they go back this year and take away credits that have already been earned? I can tell you why, because someone sat down and figured out a way to propel their student ahead of the others. Ms Peeples you need to stay on this one. Your kid is affected, my kids are affected. The kids already did the work. Last year we tried to straighten this out and is resulted in R Baker loosing his job, but this year it is ok to take away credits? What about the kids in Spanish I right now? I was told they will get honors credit. Is that now gone too? My kid has already suffered through half of a year of hell in his Spanish I class. I would have never enrolled him in it if it wasn't an honors class!!!

It would be interseting to know who this Comunnity School student is. Isn't it ironic that they "will not be affected."

Hayes said the district cannot give students honors credit because it is not legally allowed to, according to the state...since when is the district so worried about the law?? They are not giving honors credit to all the eighth graders taking algebra either anymore. Giveth and Taketh wheneverth
