So will the U.S. oil companies sell their fellow Americans Florida gulf oil at a lower prices then? Hmmm. Gulf Coast Florida can afford to lose the tourism industry? Yes? No? Will Crist and Bush be around to help clean up the messy oil spills? Doubtful.

Who hasn't fallen on their bottom at least once in their life? Is THAT worth a lawsuit? No, of course not. I am sorry that she fractured her shoulder, but things happen in life.

Enough of these baseless lawsuits that waste valuable time and resources. I would say it would be reasonable to take her to the hospital and pay for the medical treatment if she was without insurance. But to sue over natural substances in a nature park is right there with the McD's hot pickle and coffee nonsense.

91 on Tamiami? Crazy. Insane. 41 is a narrow, back country road that barely supports 60 safely. Ask youself if you, traveling with the wife and kids down 41 some afternoon, would like to be there at the same time this guy is doing 90 plus coming the other direction towards you? How about behind you as you swerve to avoid that turtle crossing the road and don't see him coming?

Continue to work with LCEC and drop the idea of a city electrical utility which will end up costing Marco residents. Stay out of utility businesses: Let experts run those enterprises.

This information should be available on the internet or telephone so there is no need to perform an expensive, drawn out "study". Simply telephone the Marco-sized cities googled on the 'net, ask them about this municipal electricity idea, and in one work day you will have an answer to the utility question.

Outsourcing may cost Lee County more in the long run when these systems need at-site maintenance and repair.

Why not shift focus to attracting tech jobs and industry to our part of Florida? You have workers with a vested interest in their companies, increased housing sales, tax revenues, and all of the good things that come with a flourishing community.

I've worked for the US Gov't for a long time and have seen these scenarios where you contract out services thinking it will save money. It doesn't. You get marginal workers, shoddy work, and end up fixing the mess left to you. I know because I have suffered the aftermath of contract jobs many, many times. And those are US contractors. On the foreign front, we have outsourced part of our payroll services where I work to Bankok, Thailand. Imagine how that works.

What is it these days with sending jobs outside of the USA? Wake up, America, before it is too late.

Police budgets must be increased now to ensure that the police can counter the increasing latino gang crime before these criminals take stronger hold here in the Gulf Coast. These gangs (Salvatrucha, Mara 18) are a cancer in Virginia, Maryland, and DC due to the large concentration of Salvadorian and other Central American undocumented aliens there. These criminals will ruin the county if left unchecked.

This type of criminal has to be broken by serving time in a hard-labor program and living in a simple, open jail cell. Ten years should be a good beginning, and a suggested work environment would be in a sewage-treatment plant scraping out the collection ponds.

Why not:

1. Raise taxes on cigarettes a few pennies in Collier;

2. Use the revenue to pay folks out of a job to go around and scoop up butts and trash on the beach and around the area.

3. Solicit opinions from the community about contentious issues before blundering into a mistaken law that will have to be repealed.

Everyone should be especially thankful for our professional police force in the USA. They do a great job protecting us and get little gratitude from us, the public. So thanks to the Sheriff's department and all of you who are out there on the front lines fighting against the ever-increasing crime in our county.
