That was the thought that came to my mind as I was reading this USN Vet. Also Rene Garcia who's been here for 10 YEARS spoke in Spanish. The event organizer, Gloria Hernandez, spoke in Spanish. And how did the crowd respond to her? IN SPANISH. Maybe if they would make the effort to learn English and speak it in public, it would help us to believe that they truly want to be a member of our society.

Oh yeah, just what we need--more overpriced homes for the rich and not so famous and another "boutique" hotel. What the heck is a "premium" theater?
Oops, I think they forgot to use one of their favorite words in this article--UPSCALE.

Now who was the immature child you pulled this ridiculous prank? For Gods sake, most of these comments, including my own, were not even harsh--just opinions or feelings. Just because someone didn't like what we said even if it wasn't racist or typecasting? You've got to be kidding!! You shouldn't participate in blogs if you're that sensitive. And NDN, come on, is this fair???

You're absolutely right that because a young girl made a mistake and is now an unwed mother doesn't mean others backs should be turned on her. She should certainly have all the support her family and friends can offer as she will need it. Remember I said I knew this from experience. But to glorify it? No. It sends the wrong message to our teenagers.

I'm with joespizza on this. My exact feeling upon reading this AND the article about the WHITE out of wedlock birth was sadness. Sadness because I know from first hand experience how difficult life is sure to be for these young parents and their babies. These articles are indicative of how society now tolerates such things and considers them no big deal, which is a shame. It used to be that births to unwed mothers weren't published, showers weren't given and announcements weren't sent out. Unwed mothers were not necessarily proud of their mistake. Now look at how it's being congratulated and rewarded; what it's saying to young people. We should be happy? I do pray for the best for these babies.

my2cents, if you had ever met this man or seen him operate his store, dealing with his customers, you would know that he is neither greedy nor stubborn. He does what he does for the people of his community and they, I'm sure, are grateful. Many people who live in that area don't have transportation and would have to walk quite a distance in either direction to buy groceries if Del's weren't there. My family and I have at one time or another lived in that community and have made many trips to that store over the last 37 years. I was disheartened when I heard that it would be up for bidding because I knew very well what would happen to it if someone else got their greedy hands on it. I'm thrilled that Del held out--for the people. Thank you Del for not caving in to the vultures with the "upscale Naples" mentality!!!

What I meant was, that particular argument. I don't think there should be a ferry to and from. And definitely not launching from Bayview Park--where in the heck are these additional people supposed to park--spaces are at a premium now!!

Anyone who doesn't own a boat can rent a boat, therefore everyone can access and use this island. End of argument.

Fitzgerald's was a ridiculous place to be on St Patrick's Day. $5 a head just to enter, standing around (because there was not a seat to be had) drinking expensive, crappy beer and about a snowball's chance in hell of getting inside to actually eat some of those 1,000 lbs of corned beef!!! And what was cooking outside? HAMBURGERS--unbelievable!! I'll never go there, or probably any other Irish pub, on St Patty's Day again. A shame...I'm truly Irish and love to celebrate it.
