#16, I am with you also. Monday morning I am cancelling my subscription to the NDN, and I encourage others to do so as well. The NDN sister paper, The Coller Citizen, has endorsed John McCain.

If he (Fishkind) keeps saying this on a regular basis, eventually he will be correct. Then he can come back to this blog and say he was right, somehow.

#5, deport her where? Back to Fort Lauderdale?

This is a great example of how biased the media is toward Palin. They hate her and tell us how she is disliked by everyone, and then in the real world, people are flocking to come see her.

#12 you are correct, also homes in Naples Manor require certain levels of flood insurance. The manor is a low area and hardly any fill was used when it was built.
#11, if you consider Naples Manor a ghetto, then you must not get out of town much. It takes a true Naples snob to make a statement like that about a decent working class neighborhood.

#3, while I see your frustration and how you may feel that Habitat is working on someone's misfortune, it is beneficial to the area. Without Habitat these homes would sit vacant and become a greater problem to the neighborhood or they would be purchased by bottomfeeders and become boarding houses to undesireables. Also many of these homes were purchased by speculators and then abandoned when the market value fell.
I would like to see Habitat expand their program to other areas like Golden Gate City and the Estates.

The title should be, "bargain hunters decend on Naples as volume of home sales increase."

GatorHater07, be fortunate you are on a well, I am on FGUA and I hate it. The bills are high, they can raise rates whenever they like. When there is a problem, the system goes off. Their system is an old clunky garbage system that has never been upgraded and it is overcapacity. The sewer system is an environmental nightmare, they dump raw sewage straight into the canals near their waste site off Tropicana and 32nd AVE, SW.
The utility owners are ghost owners and operators, they are there to collect the money and that is it. It would be ok to have the 2nd highest water rates in Collier County if the service was good, but with FGUA, nobody gets what they pay dearly for.

Isn't this the same "economist" that said back in 2006, the real estate market has bottomed out?
