this article has me so upset and outraged at the county for several reasons.
1. since when is 'affordable' housing 300k or less?,,, yes maybe a few years ago, but not for the last year or two. In fact, I just checked naples mls, and found 592 properties for sale between the price range of 150k-300k, which included condo's and single family homes. I feel the county, if it is giving my tax dollars away should be more up to date and frugal with my money.
2. how available was this made to the pulic?
I'd like to know how many family members of county employees took advantage of this.
3. I dont appreciate my hard earned tax dollars spent up to 30k for someone to buy a house thats 300k.
4.I feel that the monies could/should have been more evenly distributed. This article makes it sound like the first that applied got the maximum amount, leaving the rest to get a lower amount of $$ aid.
5.Why is the housing department at the county level so slow to realize the downturn in the economy that they run out of funds, instead of realizing the downturn and acting on that, making the funds less, for more people that qualify.
6. I'd feel more comfortable giving sam durso money to fix up a foreclosure and have more qualified buyers in those homes.
7. no wonder they are running out of money...they obviously gave too much to the first come, first served people, and in addition made the monies far greater than the need.
Is anyone else out there also outraged by the policy the county has in place? Are you willing to give more of your tax dollars for a program like this to continue exist without modification at least on a quarterly basis? Did you know your tax dollars funded this amount of money to 'low income' residents allowing them to purchase a house in the amount of 300k or less?
The spending by the county has got to be reined in, and this is one example of how out of touch they are with reality.

A Huge problem is bullies, believe it or not, and that can happen as early as VPK... Bully behavior can lead to other things later in life like school shootings...(If/when the bullied person snaps, or the bully goes too far) the statistics are alarming. Studies show if schools have a zero tolerance for bullies the possibility of a school shooting is also reduced.

Pickydogs/ Neez/ Hans..
You cannot help a person who is not thinking clearly, and clearly needs mental health evaluation/help/meds. I am concerned about his family. He seems to be unstable.
Hans.. be careful.. do not give your address to this person.
Annoying? Yes.. Over the top? Yes. He's feeding on your comments, trying to make his useless point, so next time he posts something.. Don't respond.. that will pixx him off.

I am not jewish, but I thought friday afternoon for jews was to prepare for shabat, and to commit at sundown to the customs of their religion. Like no computers, modern day equipment, time for prayer, reflection, etc. Sounds like he's not that faithful.
Oh and by the way, the weedwacker story is true.. I remember that one. It sounds like you need an anger management refresher course, or a repeat of whatever counseling was ordered by the judge.
I hope breaking bread wasnt going to be on his wife's head. Sounded like a threat to me.

Sounds to me like most bloggers missed the point....
What I got out of the article was illegals unwanted in 'city of naples' thats pretty much it.
The blogs say most of us don't want illegals...We all know that "the city of", naples, and golden gate estates are very different things. In my opinion the blogs seem to show that illegal immigrant status is across the board not ok with most collier residents, (except the obvious), yet nothing is being done about this, even when there are federal rules regarding this...I think if that the 'city of' is doing something about this, then, certainly the county absolutely should.
I for one am not looking forward to the next 5-10 years dedicating my life to learning/teaching spanish, as a first language, and english as a second, but if nothing is done right now, that is where we are going.
